
Hello! I'm Ashar Khan.
I am a PhD Student in the Philosophy department at the University of Waterloo.​
My areas of specialization (AOS) are History and Philosophy of Science, Philosophy of Biology​. My areas of competence (AOC) are Philosophy of Mind, Epistemology, Philosophy of Math and Logic.
I am interested in causation, explanation, modelling, measurement, idealization, laws of nature, theory change, and the history of twentieth-century philosophy of science. My primary research interests are in history and philosophy of science, with a focus on the philosophy of biology, health, and medicine. I am working in several projects that examine conceptual and methodological issues in the scientific research on obesity and energy metabolism. I hold a BA form the University of Toronto and a MA in Philosophy from the University of Western Ontario. Outside of philosophy, I enjoy cooking, dog sports and training, woodworking, and chess.
